Start before you’re ready

It’s so easy to overthink. To overthink marketing – and copy in particular. Copy is everything; how your business shapes its thoughts, articulates its ideas and wows customers with your incisive insight.

When we put off writing the copy that we need to, we put off connecting to the very people who support our business.

Don’t believe me?

Take a look at the ‘Cult of Done’ by Bre Pettis. It’s as fine a piece of copywriting as I ever saw.

The words give shape to his thoughts.

Articulate his ideas.

And wow you with his incisive insight, I bet?

The cult of done can apply to anything. To that follow-up email you need to send. To the social media post that’s been on your mind. And to that email you’re dying to broadcast and haven’t quite managed to send. Let’s face it, you probably haven’t written that email yet, have you? Neither have I.

I’m calling time. Enough’s enough. What can you start before you’re ready? What copy can you get down on paper that’s been in the back of your mind for weeks?

This blog took me 3 minutes to plan. 6 minutes to type. 3 minutes to edit. 2 minutes to post.

Let’s all start before we’re ready and see where we end up, shall we?

I have a feeling it’ll be wonderful.
